Low density or high density, and how thick

Two choices set how a plastic bag feels in the hand: the kind of polyethylene film, and its thickness, which is measured in mil. One mil is one thousandth of an inch.

23 film colors for custom plastic bags

Every color comes in both low density and high density film. White is the standard and makes every ink color read true, and clear and black are just as popular. The PMS number under each name is the closest match to the film, for your designer. Screen colors are approximate, so ask us for a film sample before you commit to a shade.

How your logo gets on the bag

• MethodCustom plastic bags are printed by flexography. A flexible plate is made for each ink color, and the film is printed as the bags are made, so the ink bonds to the film and the print sits in the same place on every bag.
• Ink colorsUp to 6 ink colors in total across the bag. One color on white film is the classic. Two or three colors cover most logos.
• SidesThe same art on both sides, different art on each side, or one side only.
• Ink coverageA standard quote covers art that fills up to 30 percent of the bag face. Heavier coverage, flood coats and art that bleeds off the edge can be done and are quoted on request, so send your art with the quote request
• Color matchGive us your PMS numbers and the inks are mixed to match
• PlatesOne plate per ink color, made once. Plates are kept on file, so a reorder of the same art skips the plate step
• Full colorFour color process printing is available for photographs and full color art, and is quoted individually.

• MinimumsMinimums are per size and per design, and are shown on each card. There is no maximum: larger runs are quoted individually.
• Overs and undersCustom made bags are produced on a continuous film line, so the finished count can run over or under the quantity ordered. You are billed for the quantity shipped
• ArtworkVector PDF, AI or EPS with fonts outlined. We can clean up a logo that only exists as an image.
• ProofA digital proof shows your art on the bag with ink and film colors called out. Production starts when you sign it.
• ReordersWe keep your specs on file, so a reorder is one email.
• Local bag rulesSome states and cities restrict thin single use plastic bags, some set a minimum thickness, and a few do not allow plastic carry out bags at all. Check your local rules before you order, and ask us about heavier gauge film, paper shopping bags or reusable totes.
