HEAT SEALED OR SEWN

Two ways to build a tote bag: thread, or heat

The laminated non-woven and RPET bags are sewn, seam by seam, the way most reusable shopping bags are made. The heat sealed bag is bonded instead, so the seams are clean welds with no stitching and the bag arrives flat and opens square in the hand. Both can carry a full color laminated print.

Full colorLaminated bags print in four color process, so photographs, gradients and painted artwork reproduce like a catalog page. Print the front, the back and both gussets, each with its own art if you like.
Spot colorA one or two color logo reads bold and clean. Give us your PMS number and we match it.
TemplatesAsk for the flat template of your size. It shows every panel with the seam and handle positions so your art lands where you expect.
BleedArtwork that runs to the edge needs a small bleed past the trim. We add it if your file does not carry it.

Custom laminated tote bag questions

What is the minimum order for custom laminated tote bags?

Sewn laminated non-woven and RPET bags run from 1,000 bags per size. Heat sealed bags run from 5,000 bags per size. There is no maximum: larger runs are quoted individually.

What is the difference between a sewn bag and a heat sealed bag?

A sewn bag is stitched together, seam by seam, with a bound top edge and box stitched handles. A heat sealed bag is welded with heat, so there is no thread, no needle holes and nothing to fray. Heat sealed bags also arrive flat and open square. Both can carry a laminated full color print.

What is RPET?

RPET is polyester spun from recycled plastic bottles. The fabric is laminated and printed just like the non-woven bag, so the bag looks the same on the shelf and gives your customers a recycled content story to carry.

Can you print photographs on the bag?

Yes. The laminated bags print in full color process, so photographs, illustrations and painted art reproduce sharp and bright, edge to edge, on every panel. Send high resolution images and we proof them on the flat layout.

Can each side of the bag carry different artwork?

Yes. The front, the back and both gussets are separate panels on the template. Many stores put the logo on the front, a photograph or pattern on the back and a tagline or web address on the gussets.

How long does it take?

It depends on the bag. Sewn laminated non-woven and RPET bags take 16 to 18 weeks. Heat sealed bags take 3 to 6 weeks with a spot color print and about 8 weeks laminated in full color. All are counted from the day you approve the artwork proof.

Are any of these tote bags made in the USA?

Yes. Our heat sealed tote bags are made in the USA, in spot color on a solid bag or laminated in full color.
